Catinca Popa is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School in Berlin. She is passionate about digital policy – especially competition policy enforcement in online platform markets and exploring how corporate lobbying affects democratic systems. Before this, she graduated with a BSc in Social Sciences, focusing on Political Science, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Taking a year off from her studies to gain practical experience in tech policy, she interned at the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union. There, she assisted the team in advancing her country's national interests in EU-level negotiations. Eager to dive deeper into her passion, she subsequently joined Hanbury Strategy, a tech policy consultancy based in Brussels, as a public affairs intern. There, she monitored political and legislative developments at the EU level that were of interest to clients such as OpenAI and Epic Games.
She has been singing and playing the piano since she was five, participating in musical shows on Romanian television. Now, she enjoys playing the piano whenever she finds one, especially when traveling back to Bucharest, her hometown.
